It is funny how quickly your journey can change. When started thinking about earning a doctorate I had envisioned myself teaching. Three years later, I am still not teaching. Higher education was entering a bubble-era before I graduated. Colleges begin to restructure to meet the changing demands of funding and budget cuts in Washington. Full time teaching positions faded fast. So, what now?
No, I haven’t been twiddling my fingers either if that is what you were thinking 😊. You can meet change head on with a Plan B or you can stay where you are forever. I decided to switch to Plan B.
Here’s a list of my Plan B:
- More research
- Presenting my paper three times at major conferences
- Invited to present again this fall
- Published my dissertation in a journal this year
- Wrote a book (I need to get published)
- Working on a few more papers for publication in journals
While all this sounds exciting, it can also be very stressful. So I decided to add to my skills and learn how to reduce stress in my life.
Reiki Practitioners/Life Coaches
Little did I know that my new journey would lead me down a new path which consisted of earning a Certified Master/Teacher certificate. It took me over two years to earn my Reiki Master/Teacher certification.
You must practice the art on yourself and others for a period of time before they hand you a certificate.
While honing my Reiki skills, I also decided to get a Life Coach certification and combined the practices to help other people on their journey. Wait a minute – I am not done yet so keep reading 😊!
Energy workers (Reiki practitioners) helps you to tap into energy zones in your body to reduce stress, and life coaches help you see all your potentials so that you can achieve all you desire. When you combined these two practices, you get Life Energy Coaching.
Life Energy coaches can help you change your emotions, circumstances, and your old beliefs that do not serve you anymore. People around you start to change as you start to change.
As you begin to grow and accept the changes in your life, you have more breakthroughs. As the stress melts away, you become healthier and happier.
I have always heard that the best journeys are the ones that take you off the beaten path to unknown places. The views are breathtaking where fewer people have gone. I can genuinely say that I am glad my journey sent me on a detour because the experiences have been phenomenal.
No, every day is not perfect, but we can miss out on some beautiful views when refuse to change.
Be fearless. Have the courage to take risks. Go where there are no guarantees. Get out of your comfort zone even if it means being uncomfortable. The road less traveled is sometimes fraught with barricades bumps and uncharted terrain. But it is on that road where your character is truly tested so have the courage to accept that you’re not perfect nothing is and no one is and that’s OK.
